A train and ferry journey to the UK, plus additional concert dates

I wrote this from Enfield (near London), getting ready for my concert that happened this Wednesday. I had a full day’s trip to get to the UK and I just posted a short video with impressions of the journey!

The trip involved an early start to catch a train near Cologne and take it to the Netherlands, changing at Utrecht to Rotterdam, and then a metro to the Hook of Holland.

From there I caught a ferry to Harwich, England. I’d taken this route in 2015 but at night – this time I got to see the crossing during the day! (As well as catch up a bit on sleep). Then another train or three to arrive at my destination in Suffolk!

After my concert this evening I’m performing Saturday afternoon (19th) in Wickham Market, Suffolk, at 3pm. Looking forward to these two UK events!

In the UK? Buy paper copies of my sheet music

I won’t be in the UK very long, but if you want to get a physical copy of some of my music, I’m offering a mail order option (only if you’re in the UK). Order by Friday afternoon and I’ll mail your music that day. Details here. I’m very happy with how the printed version of my music turned out, I’ll try and post a short video showing of the physical copies at that same link tomorrow morning.

Two new concert dates added to my Europe schedule

In Europe and want a copy of my books? I might do a mail order offer similar to the UK, but even better is if you catch one of my events in person! I’ve just added a concert in the Netherlands and in Slovenia, check my schedule below:

Post UK schedule:

[NEW] Concert at De Zingende Snaar, Netherlands on Wednesday, Oct. 23 (shared concert with Kristine Warmhold)

Concert in Hamburg, Friday, Oct. 25

Last chance to experience a “Connected Continents” weekend! Hamburg, Oct 26+27 (limited space available!)

Live-stream trio concert from Hamburg on Oct 27

Concert in Berlin at Camac Harps, Tuesday, Oct. 29

[NEW] Concert and masterclass in Ljubljana, Slovenia on Monday, Nov. 4th – more info soon.

Concert in Zweibrücken, Friday, Nov 8

Harpist in the Wild, episode 6

Saturday’s Harpist in the Wild episode was a special chance to play Deborah Henson-Conant’s beautiful The Nightingale in the full harp and voice version! It’s a song for her mother, and while it sounds wonderful as an instrumental, I think it’s particularly moving with the words. I was joined by Rafaela Schützner in this episode filmed last year in a cave in Germany (The Hollow Stone).

Bodenseewellen Tutorial by Lena Rummel

If you enjoyed the Bodenseewellen duet from a couple episodes ago, check out this tutorial Lena Rummel just posted of how to play it. It’s in German, of course, but if you turn on close captions on YouTube and then use the autotranslate it does a passible job of translating back into English (or whatever your choice of language is).

Thanks as always for reading!

Josh
