I’m in Europe!
Hello all,
I’m writing this from a train station in Germany – I landed in Frankfurt about an hour ago and am now waiting for my train to take me to Cologne. (Update: finishing this on the train!)
In Cologne I’ll be picking up some sheet music I’ve had printed (exciting!) and then heading on to Lohmar to meet up with Kristine Warmhold and Lena Rummel to prepare for our trio concerts on Friday and Sunday.
The sound of multiple harps is always amazing – on Friday we’ll do a concert with a mix of solos, duos (including the world premiere of my “Forgotten Summer” as a duet), and of course trios! I can’t wait :)
It’s in Rösrath, near Cologne – hope to see you there (tell your friends!).
Then we do the first of our “Connected Continents” workshop weekends (booking is closed for this one, but you can join us at the start of October in Kisslegg and at the end of October in Hamburg!).
On Sunday we’ll do another trio concert, a shorter “Coffee concert” of our duo and trio pieces. It’s the closing event for “Connected Continents” and it’s also open to the public:
I mentioned I’ll be picking up some printed sheet music later today – as I think I wrote earlier this year, I had some music printed in Australia for my tour and I really got a kick out of seeing and holding it.
Digital sheet music is awesome and super convenient, but there’s something special about holding a thing you’ve created.
So I’m looking forward to seeing how these turn out – and it includes a new book! Baroque Music for Pedal Harp. I’ll be releasing it this weekend in PDF format as well, stay tuned!
Europe tour update:
I’ve added a few more dates (including in the UK), stay tuned for further concerts (and as always, if you’re interested in having me come perform or teach in your area, let me know). I also filmed a Harp Tuesday episode talking about the pieces on my solo program for the fall and why I choose them.
Harpist in the Wild, Season 6 coming soon!
This season was filmed last year in Europe and features a bunch of collaborative episodes, more on this next week!
Cheers,
Josh
PS I went for a late night walk on Sunday night to stretch my legs before my flight Monday and saw a very bright shooting star (the perseids in full swing) and the northern lights! I’d never seen the northern lights in my life until this year – this is now the second time now they’ve been very visible in Victoria, BC! Magical. (And this time they were even dancing, though you can’t see that in this photo).
