Today I’m writing from the Dortmund area (again!). I’ve been criss-crossing Germany and feeling fully recovered from the cold I had a couple weeks ago. I was just in the beautiful Bodensee area last weekend where I was teaching at the second of three “Connected Continents” weekend workshops (next stop, Hamburg) followed by a trio concert on Sunday with Lena Rummel and Kristine Warmhold. (Not in Germany? Catch our final trio performance as a live-stream on Oct. 27th!).
From Kisslegg I traveled to the Dortmund area where I just performed a concert at Universität Münster, Musikhochschule Münster on Tuesday. (Watch a few moments from the Bach Toccata here).
I thought I’d share what I’m doing in the next month or so – maybe I’ll see you at a concert or workshop!
Schedule:
Concert in Dortmund, Friday, Oct. 11 (this was scheduled at the last minute, so please tell your friends!)
Duo concert with Kristine Warmhold in Cologne on Sunday, Oct. 13
Travel to the UK for two concerts:
Enfield, Wednesday, Oct 16
Wickham Market, Oct 19
Back to Germany for:
Concert in Hamburg, Friday, Oct. 25
The final “Connected Continents” weekend workshop in Hamburg, Oct 26+27 (limited space available!)
Live-stream trio concert from Hamburg on Oct 27
Concert in Berlin at Camac Harps, Tuesday, Oct. 29
Concert in Zweibrücken, Friday, Nov 8
And then I fly home on November 11th after three months in Europe!
Still looking to fill a couple dates
I’ll be traveling through the Netherlands after I leave the UK and I would love to get in a few concerts/workshops while I’m there (Oct. 21-24). And I’ll be in Frankfurt on Nov. 10th, again would love to do a concert or workshop there. If you have any leads or want to organize something, let me know!
Harpist in the Wild, episode 5
As this season of duets continues, last week’s episode features Kristine Warmhold and two of her compositions from her book Duets for Small Harps. Filmed last year towards the end of October, there’s some wonderful forest colours here, plus a beautiful red harp :)
You can buy the sheet music at her website and if you’re in Cologne this weekend you can hear us performing together live (on much larger harps) at Groß St. Martin.
Look for a special performance of Deborah Henson-Conant’s The Nightingale in this coming Saturday’s Harpist in the Wild video!
A few photos from Lindau
It was a busy week preparing for the workshops and concert but Lena Rummel took me a on a bit of a sightseeing trip the day I arrived:
Signing a harp – a fun memory
A few weeks ago I opened the Atlanta Harp Center‘s newsletter and saw that one of the harps they have on commission is a harp I signed back in 2017 at the Somerset Harp Festival (the same year I bought my own Excalibur). I dunno if it’s still available, but was fun to open up the email and be reminded of this!
Thanks as always for reading!
Cheers,
Josh
