Coaching
sessions
In addition to my regular teaching I've recently made some time
available to offer coaching sessions via Skype.
Coaching is for
people who aren't looking for regular lessons but would
like to pick my brains and get help and feedback on a specific subject.
For
example - you're preparing a concert program and would like to get my
thoughts and suggestions on the music.
Whether you
already have a teacher or haven't had one for a long time,
getting a trusted second set of ears and eyes to give you feedback is
always valuable.

Availability
At the moment I've set aside time on Mondays for coaching. Afternoons
and evenings (Pacific time zone).
Cost
$70 CND for one hour
$103 CND for 90 minutes
$130 CND for two hours
(Due to extra prep time required on my part this is slightly
more than I charge for recurring lessons.)
Cancellation policy:
36 hour notice
required
Due to the limited amount of coaching time I have available, I charge
$70 for any cancellation made with less than 3 days (36 hours) notice.
Using Skype
I recommend using a laptop or desktop. An external webcam can help
ensure the best video quality as well as ease of position. An external
USB mic is an excellent addition as well. I currently use a C920
Logitech webcam and a Yeti Blue Mic.
Try and setup your screen and webcam approximately where your music
stand might go (you may have to lower or move your music stand forward,
etc.)

I highly recommend using headphones/ear buds on your left ear rather
than speakers.
Also, note that the current Skype "app" gives you less control over
settings than if you get the full "classic version" (On
Windows, select "get classic Skype" on the drop down menu).
In order to make
sure that our time during a coaching session is spent on the music and
not on trouble-shooting I highly recommend that you test out
your Skype setup with a friend prior to our coaching session to ensure
that everything is working smoothly.
Payment: I
use Paypal for payment - I'll
send you a Paypal invoice which you'll be
able to pay with any major credit card or with a Paypal account. (Note
that for Skype lessons within Canada I prefer to use etransfers
instead).
