Sunday Spotlight – Feb. 3, 2013

Hi everyone!

Welcome to this week’s spotlight.  A potpourri of music today:

First, one my favourite pianists, William Kapell, who died way too young.  Here’s his rendition of Liszt’s “Mephisto Waltz”

I love Mahler and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau – here he is signing “Ging heut Morgen übers Feld”

Elisabeth Schwarzkopf is one of my favourite musicians – here she is singing Strauss’ “Zueignung

I was just playing through the Godefroid Carnival of Venice variations for fun the other day.  Here’s Vladim Repin with a violinist’s take on it.

And finally, last Tuesday was Harp Tuesday!  If you haven’t seen it all ready, check out my in-depth look at Anne Vanschothorst’s A Bird Came Flying.

You might also enjoy my music video from last year of A Bird Came Flying

and Anne Vanschothorst’s video of another piece from the music book – I Feel Different

That’s it for this week – see you next Sunday
